Help: Parallels Not Loading... Caught in Loop

Hello all. I'm new to the forum. Apologies if I posted this in the wrong spot.

I am trying to run two programs for work on parallels running Windows 8.1. I just got the following error:
"The disk used by the "New Windows 8.1" virtual machine can be compressed only when it is stopped or running."

The challenges is that I am not trying to compress it. I have done the normal array of shutting down, starting back up, etc.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ken2,
Make sure your virtual machine is not paused and you are not running it in the Rollback mode. If it is in the Rollback mode, shut it down and try the compression again.
Also, please note that compressing of virtual hard disks can only be performed for virtual machines without snapshots and with the Rollback mode option disabled.
To disable the Rollback mode option:
1.Make sure your virtual machine is shut down.
2.Open your virtual machine's Configuration menu.
3.Go to the Options tab and select the Startup and Shutdown option.
4.Set the Rollback Mode option to Disable.

I have the same problem, and when I attempt to shut down the virtual machine it just keeps telling me the same error! This is really annoying as I can't use it and did not ask it to compress anything

Hi, could you please provide us with the step by step instructions in order to reproduce the issue on our side?
