Fullscreen problems on OS X 10.11 El Capitan GM / Windows 8.1

Hi,

Here is my problem. This has been tested on three different Mac with the same result.

When I use the option "Use OS X full screen" the "Swiping" from Windows 8.1 to OS X is working great but as you can see in the screenshot, when I move the mouse to the top border, the OS X Top Menu Bar is appearing making it impossible to close window (Either with the "X" or by swiping down).

When I disable the "Use OS X full screen" the "Swiping" from Windows 8.1 to OS X doesn't work anymore but when I move the mouse to the top border, the OS X Top Menu Bar isn't appearing, which is also how it should behave when "Use OS X full screen" is selected.

Are you aware of this bug and do you plan on fixing it soon ?

I had the same problem but with Windows 10.
It's impossible to work that way...
Please solve this problem as soon as possible...

I am encountering the same problem. I have "Active Screen Corners" turned on. I've always had this one as it was the only way to access the Parallels menu bar when I needed to (I would go to the top-left corner), but otherwise, when closing windows in Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (I have both VMs) I just close as usual within those operating systems without having the Parallels menu bar drop down. But after updating to the latest version of Parallels running on El Capitan, as soon as the cursor anywhere on the top of the screen (say I go to the top right corner to close a window in Windows 8.1 or Windows 10), then the Parallels menu drops down. Please note, this is with "Active Screen Corners" activated, and set to only drop down when I go to the top left. While I was on Yosemite on the older version of Parallels, none of this was a problem, but with Parallels 11 (with the most recent updates) and El Capitan, this problem keeps occurring. I only use Parallels in full screen mode so it's very important to be able to use MS Windows functions like closing windows and minimize/maximize. This bug really affects the seamless experience I used to enjoy with Parallels. I'd appreciate feedback on this and when a fix will be in place. Thanks.

I have the same issue. I use parallels for 5 years and this is the first time that i'm not happy.

I also have this issue. It happens for any guest OS. My configuration is:
Host: El Capitan 10.11.1
Guests: Windows 10, Ubuntu 15.10

Use OS X Full Screen: ON
Active Screen Corners: ON and set to '-' for all four

The issue is quite annoying and a fix would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this is not an ideal solution. While it does resolve the problem of the OS X menubar appearing when the mouse is close to the top of the screen, there are two unwanted side effects:
1. As the original poster mentions, when "Use OS X full screen" is disabled, Parallels takes over the active desktop. To recreate the behavior of OS X's full screen, I need to first create a new desktop space, move the guest machine window there and then go fullscreen. This is kind of troublesome, but it would be bearable if it weren't for the second issue.
2. When using multiple displays with "Use OS X full screen = DISABLED", Parallels does strange things to the dock and menubar - they disappear on the monitor which is not currently in focus. I have attached screenshots to show this. This is my usual way of working (Windows on one monitor, OS X on the other) and the menubar/dock blinking in and out when I switch focus from one monitor to the other gets annoying very quickly.


I really hope that the issue with "Use OS X full screen" enabled gets resolved because that is the only real solution for me. One which worked perfectly with Parallels 10 on Yosemite.

1 My windows MS Office programmes crash repeatedly, and with them so does Parallels 11.
2 Since yesterday, I can't get to the red yellow and green full screen buttons in Windows VM screens. This is a particular nuisance when I want to run el capitan's sidebyside feature.
3 Parallels 11 + el Capitan is much slower than Parallels 10 + Yosemite.

I have tried reinstalling parallels, and have also followed the configuration of the fun screen settings as shown above.

Any suggestions?

Any word on this problem or solution? I have more than ten years senior IT experience and I cannot get the active corners to work with Parallels 11 and Windows 10. I cannot recommend upgrade to Parallels 11 or Windows 10 until this problem is resolved.

The issue was fixed late last year and then broken again with a subsequent update. Right now, it seems to be fixed again with the very latest update: version 11.1.3 (32521)

I have no idea what the official word on this fix is, so it could just be on my system. But I was definitely very happy to find it working after the latest update, especially since this bug has been annoying me for a very long time.

My problem was solved by the support technician after about half an hour of troubleshooting, by creating a new virtual machine and mapping the PVM file to that new virtual machine. My best guess after ten years of IT support is that the virtual machine itself (the PVM) handled the Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrade OK but that the implementation via Parallels got corrupted or confused, in some small way, by finding a different operating system. I was assured that this problem should not happen with upgrades on the rest of our company's Macs. I'm a little skeptical because all the troubleshooting questions seemed to deal with a straight Windows 10 installation instead of an upgrade from Windows 7. Anyway, I'll know what to do and can recommend we proceed with the upgrades. Thanks for helping.
