Windows 7 / El Capitan USB not connectable in guest

Hi... Since today I suddenly can't connect any USB device to my virtual machine. E.g. if I go to Devices > External devices > Mass Storage to connect the device (unmounted from host before), I get the following log:

I had this problem several times before and couldn't find any solution for this problem except restoring a time machine backup.

Has anyone an idea? Thanks in advance.

Hello @SvenK1,
Please try reinstalling the Parallels tools once. If you have these devices in the permanent assignments, Parallels Desktop->Preferences->Devices, try removing them. Restart your virtual machine and let us know how it works.

Hello Sasti... thanks for your answer. I reinstalled the parallels tools several times. The problem is still the same.

Check this link to connect USB device directly to Virtual Machine and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
If the issue still persists, refer this link for troubleshooting external USB Devices in Parallels Desktop for Mac & let us know the status of issue.

Hi SvenK1, remove Parallels Desktop for Mac using PDRemove and reinstall it by downloading the latest build of Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac from this link.
Launch Windows virtual machine and Parallels tools will install automatically (you can also do it manually). Now connect the external device and check how it goes.

Hi Arun... thanks for the hint. I removed parallels with PDRemove and reinstalled it after a reboot and it still doesn't work.

Glad it worked! However, if you are planning to upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and the USB is still not recognized in the Windows 7 virtual machine,please generate and submit a Problem Report ID as outlined in this article . We'll check and assist you.
