Error message "Problem Updating Parallels Tools"

New installation of Parallels 12 on a new MacBook Pro. When I start a windows app windows begins to loAd but stops about 15% and I receive the Error window with the error message "There was a problem updating Parallels Tools". I have followed the reboot and reload recommendations but got me no where. l Also should note that I am running Windows 7 along with OS Sierra 10.12.2

Any Ideas - Please Help

Maria, Thanks for your feed back. But here is what happened. With nothing to do but wait. I kept trying different ways of deleting previous versions of Parallels and then uninstalling and then reinstalling nothing but kept deleting and reinstalling. I finally got the installation to get past 10% and all I did was keep trying. I got it to go to 15% and as I stared at the screen in disgust, it started moving again. Lo and behold it loaded.I am setting on egg shells and not wanting to uninstall Parallels since it is now on my machine and every thing seems to be working I have a call in with Quicken this morning to remove I hope some issues with the graphics on Quicken and that may led me back to Parallels but at this time everything seems to working just fine.

Thanks for your help and I will save this answer so if things with Quicken don't go well I will try your solution.

I tried this and I keep getting an error message during the uninstall process telling me I do not have enough disk space. When I try to expand my disk space I am locked out of that ability under the Configure pull down selection

NOTE: Please create a back up your virtual machine before following the steps below.

Thanks Maria. I did try and clear more disk space but it did not work. I ended up deleting my virtual
machine and reinstalled Windows 10. A bit of a pain but I am back up and working again.

Dear DouglasD1, glad you are back up and working again with the new virtual machine. In this case, we suggest you create a snapshot to avoid problems with the drivers in a virtual machine which will cause Parallels tools update or manual reinstallation.

Interestingly, I had been making snapshots of my virtual machine. The one I used was not old enough to fix the problem. And I could not figure out how to recall an older snapshot. Is there an article on that?

Hi DouglasD1, it's very simple to revert the snapshot. To revert to a snapshot:
1. Start Parallels Desktop.
2. In the Parallels Virtual Machines list, select the virtual machine that you want to revert.
3. Click Virtual Machine > Manage Snapshots.
4. Select the snapshot to which you want to revert and click Go To.
