    Hi all,

I have installed Parallels 13 and windows 10 VM onto my Macbook Pro, so I can use a genealogy software. Is there anyway of loading and running the software without having to load the entire VM? And is it possible to have the VM running in the background?

    Thanks in advance

    Roz

    Hi RozJ.
Since VM is the platform on which the software application is used, it's not possible to run a Windows program without first starting the VM up. As somewhat of an alternative, follow these steps to launch the Windows program without having the Windows window appear on the screen:
1.) Place the shortcut of the Windows program in question on the Mac dock.
    2.) Shut Windows down.
3.) Open the virtual machine configuration window, navigate to Options -> Startup and Shutdown -> Custom and select 'Coherence' for 'Startup View'. Close this window now.
4.) Henceforth, clicking on the Windows program icon on the dock means the program window alone will appear on the screen.
You mean being able to resume the VM from the point you last worked in Windows when starting it up? Then you got to suspend the VM whenever it's not in use.
