Confused about parallels desktop app

How do you do the following: Launch Parallels Desktop.app, but do not start your virtual machine.
I don't see a desktop app on my screen

 

Hello Rick6, Kindly start the Parallels Desktop and then go to the top menu bar, click on the two red lines--> View--> Exit Coherence ( refer this link for assistance ).

 

I think you may be wrong

 

I clicked on the two red lines but "view" was not an option to select from.

 

Hi Rick6. Navigate to 'Applications' folder from 'Finder' and double click on Parallels Desktop icon to launch the app without starting the virtual machine. Once the app is launched, you will see the Parallels Desktop icon in the Dock. Right click on the icon and select 'Keep in Dock' so that you can click on the icon to start the app.
