Windows 7 pvm stuck in 'Welcome'

My Windows 7 pvm when 'resuming' was stuck showing 'Welcome'. I did 'actions/restart'. One program was preventing the restart, so I clicked 'restart anyway' (or whatever the message was). Now I just have a black screen - nothing appears to be happening. When I 'WIndows 7/quit Windows 7' and then double click the Windows 7 pvm, it 'resumes', gets to 100, and then the black screen.

Any insights? Any way to recover? My backup should be reasonably current, but I'd like to try to recover this version.

Hi Thomas, and did you try Actions -> stop or boot into the safe mode?

Thought I had tried action/stop, but must not have.

'Stopped', booted successfully into safe mode, restarted and all seems to be well.
