Questions about Standard and Pro Editions

Hi, I have a MBP 16" with 32GB RAM and i9 8-core CPU. I want to use Linux via Parallels. I need some clarifications between the two versions:

1. What exactly is "Virtual RAM for each VM"? is it the amount of RAM in the virtual machine?
2. The Standard Edition has 8GB vRAM. Does that mean my virtual machine can have a maximum of only 8GB even I have 32GB physical RAM in my MBP.
3. By Virtual CPUs for each VM, the Standard Edition has 4vCPUs. Does that mean I can only assign 4 cores to the virtual machine?
4. Will the Linux VM run faster if I have 64GB in the MBP?
5. I tried the trial version and here is the confusion. As far as I know, it is a full version but I could only assign a max of 4 processors. How come?

Hi,
In Parallels Desktop for Mac you can assign up to 8GB of RAM to your virtual machine. In Pro Edition you can assign up to 64GB of memory.
NOTE: In contrast to the standard version, in Parallels Desktop Pro you can assign to the virtual machine more RAM than your Mac physically has but as far as this is done via creating a swap file on the hard disk, this might result in performance degradation as HDD speed is significantly lower than RAM.
Also assigning more than a half of CPUs for the virtual machine may cause performance degradation for both Mac and VM. Half of total CPUs will provide optimal performance.
And 16 GB of RAM (on your Mac side) will be enough for the best performance.

1. So in order to have 16GB of RAM to assign to the Linux VM, I need the Pro version. Am I correct?
2. When you say CPU, do you mean core?
3. There is something wrong with my MBP so I need a replacement. Will the performance of the Linux VM be improved if my machine has 64GB RAM?

16 GB RAM will be enough, but you can test different system settings.
