Hello, I just updated to Parallels 19.4, and upon booting my Windows 11 VM it is requesting a BitLocker Recovery Key. I don't recall ever even turning BitLocker on, and I was only using a local account since it was a VM. I've tried turning off Secure Boot (vm.efi.secureboot=0 in Boot Flags, assuming that is still how to do it), but no success. I assume I just lost all of my data? Any options other than completely reinstalling Windows?
Well... I accepted my fate and just reinstalled. Tied it to a different Microsoft account than I normally do, and apparently I did the same thing last time I installed and it found my previous install and recovery key and stuff. Unfortunately I had already reinstalled Windows, and I didn't have cloud backups enabled or anything. Don't be me, backup your key (and your data)
Hi, I am getting the same if I install the latest 2024-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11Version 23H2 for arm64-based Systems I disabled Windows Update after restoring my VMs as workaround. The only way to get my VMs back online was a restore.
I updated Windows and now I'm stuck at the BitLocker screen - I don't think I ever setup a BitLocker password. I've gone to my 365 account and there's nothing in there for BitLocker. Is this going to be fixable via a Parallels update? - Or did I just loose my VM and all the files in there? Will installing an earlier version of Windows ARM fix this?
You have to export the BitLocker key when the system is online, but entering the key only allows you too boot once. You will run into it on each boot of the VM. Uninstalling the KB5037858 (2024-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11Version 23H2 for arm64-based Systems) should fix it for now. Prevent installing the update until this is fixed. In my case I restored a SmartGuard snapshot to bring the system back online.
I have the same issue and everytime the VM restarts, the BitLocker is triggered. Support - please offer a fix for this. Thank you!
This is horrible. Same issue for me. While I rarely use Windows, sometimes I have to run it (due to some Windows only software), and now it's pretty much toast due to a stupid update. Thats the last time I "upgrade" whenever a new release is out.
