After having a lot of difficulty using Docker with Parallels (which was finally, if somewhat mysteriously, resolved), I had set up Windows 11 on VMWare instead. I did a lot of software installation and system customization using VMWare Fusion I'd rather not repeat, so I'd like to migrate that setup to Parallels. My attempts to do so keep failing, however. Using the Installation Assistant, the "Converting [name of VM]" progress bar gets about half way done, leaps suddenly to the end, then, without an error message of any sort, the Installation Assistant simply goes back to the previous "Name and Location" page. I'm wonder if TPM has something to do with this, because there is something of a catch-22 involved: Windows 11 won't run without a TPM module. A TPM module can't be added to without applying encryption. Parallels won't convert encrypted images. VMWare won't remove encryption unless you first remove the TPM module. I was hoping I could convert the dencrypted image using Parallels, then add the TPM module back again. Maybe I can't do that, and that's the reason for the silent failure I'm getting? If there's a workaround for this issue, or another reason for this silent failure, I'd love to know.
