Build 4560 STILL HAS THE SAME DirectX INCOMPATIBILITY problems

(sigh) Why aren't you using VLC for Mac OS X?

    Automatic detection of network availability

What networking are you using? I'm going to take a guess and say that you're probably using Shared Networking, right? In that case, given that Parallels is running the DHCP server for Windows XP, there's nothing that can be done. What you can do is change to Bridged Networking, and you'll get...

    Automatic detection of network availability

I'm not sure what you're talking about -- XP does do that for me when I unplug my ethernet -- look for the icon on the trey to see that it isn't connected. What you're running into is badly coded network integration in Microsoft Outlook, which Parallels can't do anything about.

    Mail Crashing--Blame Parallels?

Have you thought about trying to rebuild the Mail database? http://blog.dogbark.com/2007/03/02/apple-mailapp-sluggish/ or the index http://www.hawkwings.net/2006/02/08/rebuild-your-database-and-speed-up-mailapp/

    Windows Desktop Icons Rearranged...

I'm seeing the same thing. This didn't happen with 1970 or earlier. I think it has to do with how Parallels is now almost too flexible with screen resizing -- and remembering it -- which triggers Windows XP to rearrange the icons on bootup. I prefer the old method of having a set default screen...

Disappearing application icons in the dock?

I figured it out I trashed the Windows Application folder in my Library folder and restarted Parallels, and the icons came back.

Disappearing application icons in the dock?

I tried searching to see if anyone else has this problem -- but maybe I'm the only one. I am having problems with application icons not showing up in the dock -- but the strange thing is that some icons do show up while others don't. It seems that applications that I had used before...

    Adobe Constant Reactivation?

Since I started the thread a while back, I might as well tell everyone that sbc was right -- just call Adobe to get the patch. It's for systems with RAID drives, but it also fixes the issue with Parallels.

    Bridged networking broken in 3170?

What is your setup? Bridged is working fine for me in 3170, except for the part of not being able to find Windows Workgroup boxes.

"Right way" to downgrade from RC2 to 1970?

Yes -- use the Add/Remove control panel. And don't forget to reinstall 1970 Parallel tools! It was doing that to me too -- when your VM is up and runnng, go to full screen under the View menu.

"Right way" to downgrade from RC2 to 1970?

Yes I was, in fact. I noticed that 3150 hosed up NetBIOS naming when using Bridged (which works fine in 1970) so I had to go to IP addresses instead of Windows Network names. And since I had to go to IP addresses anyway, I decided to change from Bridged as my standard setup because I keep...

"Right way" to downgrade from RC2 to 1970?

I just did it myself -- I was having issues with Outlook hosing up -- I think networking in RC2 isn't quite there yet -- and I got tired of it. 1. Load up VM in RC2. Uninstall Parallel Tools (I did this while downloading 1970 again) -- it will make you reboot. 2. Shutdown your VM and close...

    Parallels' Bad Idea

I don't know what you're seeing, but 1970 works perfectly fine for me. The problem with these forums is that only people with problems post. There's a lot more of us that have a stable setup with 1970.

    Adobe Constant Reactivation?

Is anyone else here using Adobe CS2 with Parallels? I'm currently using 1970, and it seems that everytime I use it after a restart of the VM, Adobe asks to reactivate it. At least Adobe allows me to do it successfully online so I don't have to call them. However, it is annoying, and I'm...

Please, please PLEASE FIX THE MOUSE BUG!!!

Mousing works fine in the currently released product (build 1970). If it's that problematic, why not just wait until 2.5 is GA? You shouldn't be using beta software in product environments anyway.

    Network neighborhood.

What is your Network Adapter set to? I believe (and I might be wrong) that, like Bonjour, NetBIOS/NetBEUI -- what Windows networking uses -- cannot be routed, so if you are on a different subnet, you won't be able to "see" other Windows machines without using their IP address. Try setting...
