I can totally see that, but I think they should allow for an override. In my case, I don't mount my Windows volume with my Mac, and I don't have a bootable BootCamp partition so there's no danger of anything changing.

Am I missing something here? Does no one else care about this?

Using VS2005 I allocated 500MB out of 2GB to Parallels. What made the HUGE difference for me was enabling VT-X. Before that, VS2005 was unusable, and now it's 80-90% native speed. -elan
