And now it's November 2017 and still no support - truly disappointing.

Opening VM dialog doesn't list all VMs

The "Select virtual machine" dialog only shows a couple of my VMs on a firewire drive. I have lots more (all Windows XP), some on the same drive and some on the built in drive of my MBP. I can start these by launching the relevant pvs file from the Finder but I can't see how to get the...

    High CPU in build 3188

Check to be sure that Windows is not in the middle of downloading some update or other - there seem to be quite a few at the moment. Ditto any Anti virus software. Many times AV software and anti-spyware stuff start scanning the disk as soon as the VM is booted and that can take ages depending...

Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 and Parallels?

Don't forget that the Mac expects amplified mic input, a normal Windows type mic in the mic port won't work. Having said that, a USB adapter like iMic works very well for Dragon 9 and my Windows type mic.

    Updating XP Pro

If you use the internet from your VM, then yes it is important to update XP. The updates address a raft of security issues and are issued at least monthly. A fresh install of XP SP2 usually requires dozens of updated files in two or three sessions. Without the security updates, you risk...

    Virtual Machines Catalog - where?

3036 is supposed to have a VM catalog. If that is the list of things I see when I first invoke Parallels - fine. But why if I select one, can't I simply restore the list with a mouse click? I have to go to File>Open to get the list back again - and that in a new window. Seems a bit counter...

    Great applications only for Windows?

Hugh, Have a look at iFamily for Tiger for a great Mac genealogy program (http://www.ifamilyfortiger.com/) No affiliation - just asatisfied user (I switched from a PC word using mainly Legacy there) Chris

    Delete Bootcamp partition?

I don't have Bootcamp but I think the answer to your first question is an emphatic No! Parallels just creates a normal file for your VM (ie it contains all that is needed) - that is one of its beauties. It can be anywhere basically - on your main disk, on a connected disk etc. So, you can...

    Is a dual printer possible?

I think this is an HP problem. I have a Canon which works fine in both Parallels and on the Mac.

Want to Run Vista Under PD? Prepare to Pay More

If it continues to demand 105% of my CPU in Parallels, I shall be happy not to use Vista. I reckon that XP will continue to do what I need from Windows for several years yet!

    Give me straight talk!

mbovaird, Sounds as if you have not yet installed PD Tools - the mouse has been as smooth as silk after this in my XP SP2 setup.

    Vista RC2 + Parallels 1922 work great !

MVK, Many thanks, that does the trick. I still have a huge CPU load compared with XP though. It's fun to play with all these VMs but for real work with the few PC programs I need, XP is the answer for the moment.

Ok to update to SP2 in Parallels?

Yes, I did this. I started with an ancient copy of XP home SP1 that has been on a now defunct PC. I then updated with SP2 (I had SP2 on a CD that were given away with magazines). Worked fine. Chris

    Vista RC2 + Parallels 1922 work great !

MVK, Thanks. I guess however that I am being really dumb. All I see in Vista are the Clipboard and Time synchronisation tools. Where and how do you set the PD Tools for XP compatibilty? Thanks, Chris

    Vista RC2 + Parallels 1922 work great !

Patrick, I posted the following elsewhere but I'd be interested if you got shared folders or the mouse to work and if so, can you give me any tips? Thanks. Quote Running fine on my MBP 17 inch after install from a DVD (I burnt the ISO download) using the Vista experimental settings...

    Build confusion!

I am running build 1862.2 on my MBP 17 inch and it does just about all I need and so I have stayed away from updating it for fear of messing up something that works. However, being a big believer in the grass being greener on the other side of the fence ;) , I am intrigued to know if I am...

    Parallels Images ready to download!

Burke, Many thanks. I have just started playing with Ubuntu on my 17 inch MBP - works fine. I should be grateful if you could tell me how I can increase the screen size if possible. I have a 30 inch cinema display and the 1280x800 looks kinda small! I have tried enabling a larger size in...
