2X Agent 6.2 testing with version 8

We would like to setup 8.0 on a new server and test it with our existing terminal servers (agent version 6.2). Will this work?

If things go well, we can then change our DNS to point to the new 2X server and then upgrade the agents to 8.0 during their normal downtime window.

Will the 6.2 agent work with version 8?
Can we have the 6.2 agent and the 8.0 agent running on the same server?
Is there a better way to accomplish this?
 
It should work, but new features will obviously not be supported, and eventually you might experience some problems as we never tested such setups.

Mind you that you have to switch off the old Application Server/Publishing Agent as a Terminal Server can only be used from a single Publishing Agent at any one given time.

Note that if you upgrade the TS agent to add them to your the V8 Publishing Agent, you can still install the older TSagent when you add them back to your V6 Publishing Agent.
