2X ApplicationServer 6.2 - Continually printing blank pages

Thanks guys for the new version 6.2 - much improved printing speed and the memory leak seems to be fixed.

However, since the upgade to 6.2 (both on servers v6.2 Build 512 and on clients v6.2 Build 512) when we send (say) 4 documents in rapid succession (2 copies of an order form and the associated terms & conditions), only the last page prints. so ie 10 copies = 19 blank pages and 1 T&C.

Many pages of testing have showed that this is not an application code issue, as when run the app locally, it works fine.

We are using exclusively A4 paper but we have a feeling that 2x would rather be in Letter mode. All the settings (both on Universal Printer driver and on client's printer) are A4.

We managed to blag the printing issues before v6.2 was launched but as clients now cannot print order forms, a number of them have already asked to move away from thin client and back to local applications !! - Help

Any thoughts ? - we need to stop the potential avalanche !!

Update

Still no better

We have now also had error code messagebox on the server

"Print Job Failed OX000003E4"

I think we should re-boot the servers & see if that helps.

Update 2

Rebooted servers - all universal print settings reverted to Letter as expected.

In letter setting ONLY blank pages print.

Putting back to A4 settings - original problem behaviour returns.

Need some help on this one guys.

what method of printing are you using ie emf?

have you raised a support ticket?

do other published apps have the same issue ? You need to test like for like ie published word vs published app with problem , not local apps.

You mention thinclient are you using 2X ThinClientServer or another solution?

If you use straight forward printer redirection do you get the same issues?

Yes, we are using 2X ThinClientServer, printing using emf

Other apps seem to be Ok but ours (MS Visual Foxpro 9) seems to be struggling when printing complicated pages (several font sizes, bold, graphics etc)- but ONLY since the 6.2 upgrade. Prior to that it was fine, if a little slow.

We thought this was margins/paper size as Universal Printer seems to reset itself to letter regualrly (in additional properties). From a user's point of view does Universal Printer need any more permissions than just print?

There is a new setting in the client "use client system settings (border size, fonts etc) - could this be relevant?

1st page is ALWAYS blank when we print multi-page, whatever happens afterwards.

Printing issues solved

Hi Guys

Many thanks for all your help. 6.2 Build 520 Beta seems to have solved the printing issues and blank pages are now a thing of the past.

Customers now happy & release seems stable. :D
