URL/Mailto Redirection

First, thanks for the Single Sign on fix. I've run into another issue with the new beta. I'm having some difficulty getting the URL/file redirection working. I have it enabled in the properties for the farm, and on the client. Is there another setting that needs to be enabled somewhere? Or possibly something on the TS that needs to be adjusted? I'm running the most recent version of the beta on the servers and the client.

Hi EvilDrew,

Currently URL/Mailto Redirection works by using the "Shell execute hook".

To confirm if this is working correctly, publish the 2X Application Server Console, go to the Help - About. Click on the email and the email client on your machine should be used. Click on the URL and the browser on your machine should be used.

This solution does not manage to hook ALL the URLs and Mailtos.
This feature will be enhanced and improved in the near future.

url redirection consistency

I am running V6(419) on client and server (a free 5-app, licensed version). We are still testing prior to wider implementation.

I have configured both ends for URL redirection and it works when clicking on the help URLs in 2X Console when accessed remotely.

However, I do not get URL redirection when I Control-Click on a link in a Word 2002 document. (I have double-checked by killing my iexplorer.exe process on the 2X server machine and watching the relevant window disappear.)

From the earlier post it sounds like redirection will not always work. Is there a definitive list of situations where I can expect it to work?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, a definitive list of situations where URL redirection is expected to work is not available.

When an application should open an other application, one should use "Shell Execute". URL redirection is hooking such calls.

Unfortunately not all applications use "Shell Execute", as other methods are available too. Even Microsoft Applications use different ways how to open other applications even in the same application such as in "Access".
