The latest beta of the 2X client tells my Windows Live Messenger client to set itself to "Busy" whenever I give focus to a tunneled application. This might be useful in some situations - but please make this behaviour optional in the next build.

    hi jmi,

Please note that this issue has been solved in the latest version.

The problem persists in build 199 - but there is perhaps a new version imminent?

The cause of the problem is that the default setting of Windows Live Messenger is to "Show me as Busy and block my alerts when I'm running a full-screen program or presentation settings are turned on". When disabling this option the problem goes away.

It seems that Messenger thinks that a 2X window is a full-screen program, even when it's not.

    Hi jmi,

Yes by design 2X Published applications run as a full-screen program.

If you're using Windows Live Messenger locally and option "Show me as Busy and block my alerts when I'm running a full-screen program or presentation settings are turned on" is enabled, the Live Messenger will detect a full screen application and status will turn to 'Busy'.

You'll have to disable this option.

Please note that in build 199, 2X fixed the issue where MSN (running as a published application) was set to busy mode as this problem was also happening when MSN was published.

Is this also the reason why dragging 2X windows to extended desktops doesn't work? Additionally, our users are reporting strange and intermittent problems with 2X windows staying on top of other windows, even when they try to give focus to other apps.

Extended desktop is another feature and it is in the pipeline.

AFAIK there're no previous issues related with this issue. The problem could be related to the application itself and not with 2X published seamless applications. Though I suggest you to contact the 2X support if you have such problems.

The problem with window focus seems to occur when "Group similar taskbar buttons" is enabled in Windows Explorer. I will investigate further and report on my findings.

Confirmed now by several of my users - disabling the grouping option solves the window focus problem. The applications are vanilla Outlook 2003 and Winzip 9.

The grouping feature is quite popular, though - so if possible please fix this in the next release.
