I have installed a PDF reader that is not Adobe Reader, in order to test the problem of a PDF document always remaining open after it is printed on the client machine. The PDF reader I installed is Foxit Reader. This other program has been associated as the default application for opening PDF files on my test client workstation.
With this configuration, when trying to print from 2X Virtual printer I receive the following error message:
"2X Application client cannot print since you do not have any PDF Reader installed. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/ to get Adobe Reader."
This message always appears under the following conditions: 2X Universal Printing options on the 2X Client are set to either "Print to deafult printer", "Select printer before printing", or "Use the following printer".
If the 2x Client option is set to "View document to print" then the message does not appear and the document opens up in the Foxit pdf reader as expected.
This message does not appear when I specify Adobe as the default application for the PDF file type, it only appears when Foxit Reader is associated as the default. Additionally when Foxit Reader is associated as the default application for PDFs, I am able to open local PDF files with no difficulty.
I am using 2X Application Server build 275, 2X Client build 275. Server is running Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2, client machine is running Windows XP SP2.
