under windows xp 2x gina will call the previously registered gina and does not break the chair (however some products might not work correctly)
under windows vista credentials providers are used and multiple can coexist with less problems.
you should test it and if it works then deploy it.

Ok I will try it. So I gather that the 2x gina "shim" basically will just pass the calls over to the original msgina after picking off the credentials?
