4.0/3540 doesn't install PTools on XP from v3

John,
to answer your question above:
- I have a "Parallels Mouse synchronization device" active, with a pilot from 22/11/08 and version 4.0.3543.12560
- concerning video I don't really see where to search (I have a foreign-language system, but from the MS KB link you provide I understand I have to launch "system tools"?)

Dear Hervé,

John meant, that there is a device in your Device Manager (see your own picture from the post 24) which is marked with exclamation mark (Controleur Processeur Intel (r) 82815 vers AGP 1131 if to be exact).

So, please, right-click on it and choose "Uninstall".
After that reboot the virtual machine.
 
Gosh - sorry for not having understood!
I did what John suggested, then I detected another device with an exclamation mark, then again with the video adapter itself. Each time I removed them and rebooted. At last, when I "killed" the video, WinNT proposed me to reinstall it at reboot. I did it (refusing to go on internet, leaving it choosing alone locally). And now it works!!
I wish to thank you. Indeed I'd never have found my way alone on that one...
I just created a snapshot, in case...
