    Parallels Tools "froze" during install

Parallels Tools began to automatically install after upgrading to 4.0.3846 and starting VM (Windows XP) from suspended mode. After 30 minutes I finally had to end the install application using Windows Task Manager. The install thermometer was at 99-100% and it seemed like the install was in "clean up" before finishing. The CPU utilization was at 99% being consumed by System.SYSTEM. Then tried to reinstall Tools but got error message saying another install was still in process.

Did a Reset (restart was not available).

Selected Install Parallels Tools from the Virtual Machine menu.
The install then went OK. At first I was concerned as it seemed to "freeze" just before the finish but Windows XP finally rebooted and all is well.

I got lucky, not a proper fix but it works for now

I've had this same problem for the past few days on an installation that had previously worked as it should.

Last night on one of my attempts to install Parallel Tools the roll back stalled. I killed that task and on rebooting found that mouse synchronisation and other PT features were working.

Following advice received tonight from the Parallels team I downloaded the prl_fs_drv.iso file, twice ran the install.bat, rebooted and reinstalled PT with the same error and roll back as previously. Finally I tried again and when the error appeared killed the PT install task. After reboot PT seems to be working again.

I'm not entirely comfortable with knowing that PT was not completely installed but the current situation seems better than no PT and I can live with it until there is a proper fix.
