In 2x a server I have opened access to a desktop and to 3 files, but at attempt of connection from the client the desktop opens only, and at attempt of opening of a file gives out it: Error The system cannot find the file specifed. The initial program cannot be started: memshell.exe. Please consult help for mode information.

    Excuse for my English

I had this same problem. I ended up solving it through my client settings.

When I built my server I changed the default 2x Client Gateway port to 1494 since that is a port that my work allows out through the firewall. I was always able to connect from my machines at home, but when I set up the client at work I always got the memshell.exe error.

After reading the forum and getting no help I kept playing around with my settings. I upgraded my client, still nothing.

Then I realized that my client had the Connection Mode under "Farm Properties" set to Direct Mode. When I changed this to Regular Gateway and entered the correct port number everything started working.

    Hope this works for you.

Hi kaikirk, your issues were connectivity issues and not memshell not being available in c:\windows\system32\. The easiest to solve connection issues is to use regular gateway as you mentioned.
