Hey folks,

a little bit of history first...

I really love Parallels since the early beta versions. In the past I´ve been using a separated installations of Windows XP for boot camp as well as for Parallels. As I have some scientific lab software I need to run natively (for license dongle and CPU/3D performance reasons) that has been fine so far. All the other stuff that one needs to keep up with the windows ruled world has been done within the Parallels XP VM.

Now I updated to SnowLeopard, that now supports Windows 7 with 64bit.

...to come to the point:

I´ve installed Windows 7 Enterprise on a boot camp partition. I want to use this installation natively AND within boot camp. I guess I will have to boot twice a day into boot camp and I will use Parallels 3x a day.
As I´ve read, that 7 won´t support hardware profiles, I am worried about the acivation issue. I won´t have time to call microsoft 3 times a day ;-)

Can someone tell me what to do in order to get around this problem?

Have same problem... what is the solution? Now my Win 7 (legally downloaded from MSDNAA) is shouting that it isn't activated but via BootCamp everything is fine.

Hi guys,

Same issue here..... Installed Windoze 7 Professional x64 on to a Boot camp partition.
Activated Windoze successfully and then installed and set up Parallels successfully.

If I run Windoze from my new Virtual machine setup I get the Windoze activation splash panel.
I Retype the product key and I get an error code 0xC004C008, description: The activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used.

Is this some MS Windoze 7 issue or a way of stopping certain versions of Windoze not to be used in a virtual environment, which I think was suppose to be the case with Vista.

Any help would be much appreciated. I might try and get help from MS (yeah right?)

1+ for the same problem.

I tried the tricks as described in http://kb.parallels.com/4672 without any luck
(altering MAC address of boot camp network adapter, W7 does not support hardware profiles)

It also looks like the Microsoft folks are not going to come up with a solution:

Is there really NO WAY to solve this problem!?

The only workaround that I have found is to boot into Windows using boot camp once in a while (it seems to extend the period you can run in parallels, don't know for how long this will be working)

Is it even possible to have 2 products keys activated on the same Windows? (this seems to be the Microsoft solution to run Windows7 on different "hardwares")

Update:

Seems Parallels are working on solution:

I am running Parallels version 6.0.12092 which is newer than the KB suggested build I guess?
Then, guessing again, there should be no need to re-install the Parallels Tools (I did not use any version of Parallels than this one previously)

Is my problem that I have activated Windows in boot camp first instead of Parallels??
If that is the case will the issue be solved by calling Microsoft to activate again (in Parallels VM this time)
