Activation key appears to be invalid (V 3)

I saw the other thread about Invalid Activation Key. I am upgrading from V2 to V3 and have the same problem (Activation key appears to be invalid). I have tried the old (v2) key from the CD and no luck -- with the correct error message saying that is not the key for the correct version.

[No 0 O or I 1 confusion here, and no ? signs in the email from Elements - still waiting for a response to my email.]

If your key came via email, try copy and paste to enter it. That will ensure no entry errors.

License issue fixed (V 3 upgrade)

Whoa - believe it or not, that worked! Thank you.

The email was on a different machine, so I copied it over first, then copy/pasted the license key. Previously, I had entered it manually -- at least 5 times, and double checked every time. I hope there isn't a general problem if the value is manually entered -- because I can't imagine even me making a mistake over 5 times (with double checking, being wrong over 10 times).

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself: I had the same problem and the solution worked. Copy and paste instead of manually entering.

And either both of us are losing our minds (entering manually multiple times and double-checking each time, yet still getting it wrong) - or there's something magical about copying and pasting.

I'm voting for magic over insanity . . .

Upon further magic/insanity investigation (copy/pasting from email and manually typing it right under that line in a text editor and changing fonts), I have to admit I did make a mistake in the 0 (zero) vs O (Oh). They look very similar in the font I have set up in email - and especially with a O (oh) next to a 1 (one) lead to a further rationalization in my mind (in a geeky sort of way).

All the more reason to leave out 1, 0, I and O (and other confusable characters) as part of serial numbers!
