Active Sync Problems

I cannot get MS Active Sync (4.1) to fully run. I am trying to sync with my XDA II, however after initially connecting, it eventually hangs and disconnects after partially syncing. Does Parallels actually support Active Sync (via USB)?

Windows XP Pro fully patched.
