Agent Did Not Reply, Please install agent.

Hello All --

I'm having some difficulty getting 2x properly configured on my Windows 2008 server. I have installed and configured 2x and have the service successfully running on my domain controller as well as my terminal server. However, I can't get the two to talk to each other. The service will install successfully, but will not verify. It will occasionally verify for about 5 seconds, but then immediately fail again. I can successfully RDP into either machine, but I can't make 2x connect.

Here are the specifics:

Servers: Running in Amazon's Ec2.
Amazon Firewall: All local ports are open on the firewall for local communication.
Windows Type: Windows 2008 SP2
Windows Firewall Ports: Using 20002 (TCP), 20000 (UDP), 20003 (TCP) -- Settings are the same on both.
2x Type : Version 10.0 (build 1155)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!
 
hey smyoss, has anything changed ab part from the upgrade?
did you try to see if anything is using the ports with a netstat?
have you also tried to remove and re-add the ts?

if as yes to the above, it is better if you open a support ticket ;)
 
Ginex -- Thanks for the replay and advice. I tried reinstalling TS and unfortunately that didn't do anything to help the problem. Attached is a screenshot of the domain controller/2x gateway.

Please note, this was not an upgrade. The domain controller and terminal server are brand new instances of Windows 2008. There isn't a single application other than 2x installed. This is my first attempt at a 2x server farm.

The agent will occasionally respond, but 99% of the time it is coming up with the message "Agent did not reply, please install agent". I'll reinstall the service and it will install 100% okay. Its only when 2x "checks" the service that it stops working. Once it sees that the agent isn't responding that it stops working.

Any thoughts?? Thank you!!
 
Hey Smyoss, can you please open a ticket and get this analysed further?
you can do it from the console>help>send support request
 
I believe this is the same problem i am having with v10 since release.
Support, pls see ticket TYU-290295.

My only resolution was to install v9 vds for the time being.

Has any resolution been found for this issue? I have the same version of Windows Server and have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!!

It's very upsetting. My entire enterprises network uses this version of Windows Server too. I can't possibly deploy 2X for a business if it won't work!

I found a trick, if i go into SERVICES in Windows and find the "2X Terminal Server Agent" and hit "Restart". The 2x Application Gateway will then detect the agent afterwards. This lasts for about 30 seconds and then it goes back to not being able to find the agent.

Vito, I know you said using 9 VDS worked? Where did you get it? Do you have a link? I need to get something working!

Hi Guys

Been using ApplicationServerLoadBalancer v9 on 2003 very stable for a while now. New 2008 R2 servers, so thought it was time to install V10 XG, assuming that many of the gremlins would have been ironed out by now.

However, as per this forum item, it won't install 2nd server (same issues - Agent Did Not Reply, Please install agent, reinstall, then asks you to uninstall agent round & round in a circle) and, of course as it is a new version, it won't print.

Going back to V9... That works fine on 2008 R2

Has anybody got XG to work properly with 2 or more APP servers and print reliably? If so how?

Have tried this as both an upgrade and a fresh installation

Please let us know
