Allocating increased disc space on virtual machine

My virtual machine has a (C:) and (D:) drive with content split between the two as per my old Windows laptop which it copied. However as I was running out of space on both drives I performed the necessary functions to increase the amount of space allocated to the virtual machine. This worked, however all of the new space was allocated to the (D: drive only and I don't know how to allocate more space to the C drive.
Following the instructions on the Parallels page 'How to give more hard disk space to a Windows virtual machine' I right clicked on the (C:) partition and attempted to click on 'Expand Volume' however this is greyed out. I assume this is because the extra space created has all been allocated to (D:)and is not available for reallocation.
Can anybody tell me how i can move disk space between (C:) and (D:) drives to balance up the extra space I have now allocated to the Virtual Machine.

Apologies. I am not sure why the above thread I posted came up with the smiley faces. It should have read as (C: ) and
(D: ) drives. I've changed the spacing to try and avoid this repeating the error, I hope it works this time!
 
Thank you but I used this help link to increase the space initially. However, as per my post, it allocated all of the new space to my virtual (D: ) drive and none to the (C: ). It hasn't left any unallocated therefore I assume that is why I can't use the 'Extend Volume' wizard.

Is there a way of telling it where to put the extra space on the virtual machine or moving space between partitions? Or possibly forcing it to leave new space as unallocated bu not ticking certain boxes and then using the Extend Volume wizard to allocate manually?
 
Hi Maria,
I just wanted to report that I used the free disc management software from EaseUS as suggested in the article that you gave me a link for. It was very straight forward, after watching the video in the article, and has completely solved my problem. It does not involve having to reload any programmes as it doesn't require any changes to the partition names which doing it manually would involve, and therefore couldn't be simpler.

Dear Martin, please refer to this article to check whether the file system wasn't extended properly.
