I recently had a Windows XP VM freeze on me. It wasn't doing anything major, just downloading a file. Then all of a sudden, it stopped responding to all inputs. I checked to see if the Parallels VM was at fault, but it wasn't frozen, Windows itself was.
I could still move the mouse around, but that was pretty much it. I was forced to stop not shut down the VM. The only things that recently changed in the VM are:
1. Installed Comodo Firewall due to Windows XP End of Support
2. Installed Microsoft Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) 4.1 Update 1 due to Windows XP End of Support
3. Updated Mozilla Firefox to latest Beta.
4. Used the Reclaim Disk Space function of Parallels.
