Apple Remote Won't Work in Windows 7

I have been searching for an answer on this, but no luck yet.

I want to use my Apple Remote in my VM to control a PowerPoint presentation, but the remote does not seem to be recognized. I have checked the following things.

1) The Apple remote works in my Snow Leopard environment
2) in the VM configuration, I enabled both Gestures and Apple Remote
3) The VM is in control of the Apple IR Receiver
4) The IR receiver is a recognized device in Windows
5) Parallels tools is installed

Here is my current system configuration

* Mac OSX 10.6.4
* Parallels 5.0.9370
* Windows 7 - 32 bit Professional

I don't really know where to go from here and would appreciate any help.
