I normally just connect on the Mac side, and the network connection then becomes available to the virtual machine running under Parallels. How are you trying to connect?
Also ... I had lots of problems with random dropping connections when using the AT&T Mercury USB adapter. I ended up returning it and getting the Option Aircard USB adapter. It runs much better, and I no longer have the random disconnects that I had with the Mercury adapter.

broadbend doesn't work with windows
I can connect on the Mac side with the att card but when I try to connect with IE I get a message that IE can't find server. What kind of setting are you using on the Mac network and the Network adapter of parallels and in Windows. I have tried lots of different combinations and I can't connect through windows. Hi,
the general steps should be:
1. Switch to the Shared Networking for Parallels VM
2. Make sure that Parallels tools are installed.
If this won't help, please post a problem report from menu "Help"->"Report a problem" and post here the report number
Hi-Still no luck. I switched to shared networking and this time windows recognized my modem but couldn't find the software to operate it. I assumed it was on the modem itself as no cd came with it. I am traveling and have only an Edge connection which is too slow to download any software. I thought maybe I could go to the ATT web site and find the software but I won't be able to do that until I can find a wi fi hot spot. I don't know whether this will solve the problem or not but it seems to me until I can get windows to find the software for the modem I'm out of luck. I will repost if I can find a place to download the software or if you have any other advice. Thanks. Jerry Kuhn
problem with parallel tools
Elric--I tried to follow some of the steps you suggested but I have just made matters worse. I am traveling and don't have my install CD with me. I saw in the config menu that parallel tools were not installed (it said reinstall parallel tools) I clicked on that but nothing seemed to happen. I assumed that was because I didn't have the installation cd so I downloaded a new dmg from the web site. I removed( I think) parallels from my mac applications and reinstalled the new downloaded version of parallels. When I attempted to restart windows I got a message that a new PCI device had been located and software needed to be installed. I have no idea what device it recognized since I didn't add anything new to my computer. Windows hung up and I couldn't move the cursor off the windows screen to access parallels or anything else and the only way I could resolve the issue was to manually shut down my Mac Pro. I tried repeatedly to get past this point to no avail. I then noticed on the bottom of the windows display a notice that parallels tools was not installed. I was able to click on parallels configure and click on install parallels tools but again nothing seemed to happen and I have no cd. Any suggestions how I can proceed. I essentially can't access any of my windows programs at all now. I don't know much about windows (obviously) so if you have any suggestions please make them step by step so a novice can follow them. Hi,
Sorry for the late reply - I was traveling and didn't notice your first message
Am I right that you can use your modem in Mac OS? If so, there are no need to bother with Windows drivers. Just connect this device to Mac (and if Parallels Desktop will popup the message about whether you want to connect this card to VM say no) and shared networking should work (providing, that you are using PD 4.0.3844)
About the problem with hanging of the vm..... I'm not very familiar with this part of the program. Have you tried to press "Alt + Ctrl" keys on keyboard? This should release mouse from the VM and you will be able to use it again in Mac without rebooting the host
This is actually due to missing Parallels Tools. Please ignore it. When you will install the tools, this message will gone away, since Parallels Tools will install required drivers for the VM
I'm not sure on this problem. Let me suggest one thing, but if this won't help, please create a support ticket at http://www.parallels.com/support/desktop/request/
Please click in menu "Install Parallels Tools" as you done before. This will plug CD-rom image (it is like .dmg) to the VM. Then click on "My Computer" -> "D:" (this is your cd-rom) and then setup.exe in the opened content of CD with Parallels Tools

I did manage to reinstall parallels tools by following your directions and I am running the latest version of parallels 4. However, I still have the same problem. I have used the modem successfully on the mac side and assigned it to the mac side, changed the network adapter to shared networking but whenever I try to surf using windows IE I just get a page saying IE can't find the server. None of my windows programs can connect to the internet so I am still stymied. Any other suggestions?Thanks Jerry Kuhn

Ok, it is good, that it is managed to install tools
There are several things to try, but better to start with the simplest ones
1. In windows-guest please click Start -> Run and type "cmd.exe". In the appeared windows type "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) and post here the screenshot of output
2. In the same window type "ping www.google.com". It should report something like
Pinging www.l.google.com [74.125.43.105] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.125.43.105: bytes=32 time=63ms TTL=53
Reply from 74.125.43.105: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=53
3. In the same window: type "ping 10.211.55.1". Is the output is similar to the output from p.2?
Also, we need a problem report (it contains useful logs). Please click menu "Help"->"Report a Problem" and post here the number of the problem report.

I have two buttons under the forum's reply edit-box - "Post quick reply" and "go advanced". To attach the screenshot, click "go advanced" and choose "manage attachments". Should appear the window. to upload, click "browse" and choose the file. Then press "Upload" button.
PS: I need the screenshot for the "ipconfig /all". For pings - just your observations on what you have seen. Though, if you are not sure, please attach the screenshots with pings also

It seems that VM is using Bridged Networking. Try to switch it to Shared. It should work anywhere.
It can be done in VM-settings (click menu "Configure"), then choose "Network Adapter"

Elric--If you go back several messages you will see that I already followed your earlier recommendation to try shared networking and that didn't work either. I don't know if you want me to repeat the ping test while using shared networking or if there is something else to try. I think I may just give up and take the modem back to ATT.
