Autodesk Inventor mouse pointer doesn't line up

I am running autodesk 3d inventor cad software in parrallel's. Everything was OK until I added the service pack's and a windows hotfix to solve a windows hotfix problem in inventor. The problem I now have is that the mouse pointer does not line up with the input pointer in inventor (Idon't have a problem in other windows programs). If the inventor screen is elongated to fit my 17 inch macbook pro - the mouse pointer lines up in the upper left side of the screen but is about 2 inches off when I move it to the lower left corner of the screen. If I drag the screen so it is roughly square instead of elongated, the problem becomes minor. Any ideas? It seems like some type of scaling problem.

it sounds like the difference between a tv screen which has rectangular pixels
and a VDU with square pixels

some programs have options when saving graphics to fix this
not the answer but a suggestion as to where to look
