Best parallels for WIN 7 on 32 bit MAC w/ OS 10.7.5

I have Parallels 7 running XP Home sp 3 on IMAC 32 bit 2 core duo, 3 gig memory limit, OS 10.7.5 and need to know best version of Parallels for my forced upgrade to WIN 7 sp 1. My professional software (tax preparation) is requiring an upgrade to WIN 7 (or above) now. I run a barebones computer with no frills like iPhone access or iMessaging or iCloud or such memory intensive frills.
Please guide me to the least power intensive version of parallels that runs WIN 7 efficiently in a desktop partition on the MAC. From the blurbs I see no reason to upgrade to //s 10. Would I do better (or can I still) upgrade from //s 7 to 8 or 9? Does 8 or 9 run well on a 32bit machine?
