my solution
delete that VM

Cloning my clone failed
not enough hard disk space left on Macintosh HD on my MacBook Pro 30gb not enough

so cloned the clone on the firewire 800 La Cie external hard disk

and got back to my work using last weeks clone
all my data is in shared folders of course

I think a MS auto update failed or ran out of space in the last session

so I changed auto update to auto notify of updates in WinXP sp2

there were about 5 plus a sun java update when I ran the clone(s)

Now with the working hdd image on an external hard disk the machine seems faster and more responsive
even during virus and MS PC health scans of the VM (found and fixed 13 registry errors ) which used to slow down the mac very much

so still very happy with Parallels
and with a clone of the clone in reserve

open Parallels but do not run a VM


Menu >>file >> clone

the VM you have selected
