    Hi,
I installed Parallels Desktop latest update this morning. I am now unable to launch my virtual machine (Windows 10). When I try to start the VM, there is first the normal display of the starting Windows screen, then the following message appears : "Vérification des disques après un arrêt incorrect. Veuillez patienter... Ne quittez pas l'application afin d'éviter toute perte de données" ( which translate like this : "checking of disks after an unexpected stop. Please wait... Don't quit to avoid any data loss".

After that, the message disappears and the system display the first screen again for a few seconds, then the display is completely black and nothing changes even when I wait several minutes.

I already tried everything I could find to fix the "back screen" error without any success. I could not launch Windows in Safe Mode because the system freeze very early and even resetting many times the virtual machine on a row doesn't trigger windows to start in Safe Mode.

I depend a lot on Parallels desktop for my work, thanks in advance to help me solve my problem ASAP.

    Best Regards

    Jean-Luc

I have the same issue since upgrade to 20.0. Windows 11 VM works fine but any Windows 10 VM go straight to black screen on start.

solution found...spoke to technical services...sharing what support did...
Close windows. Go to Action Tab...Configure ...CPU & Memory...Advanced...Hyperviser ...select Apple.. tick the Adaptive hyperviser on.
Good luck. (I rarely post but wanted to share!)

I do not have the option to toggle to 'Apple' under Hyperviser.....mine is grayed out and Parallels is selected. Any thoughts?

    Hello!

I have exactly the same problem. Black screen and I can't change anything under CPU&RAM because everything is grayed out.

same issue...tried all of the recommendations above and couldn't get anywhere. Had to downgrade and rebuild to get back to work. What a waste of a morning.

    升级到 20.0 后,我遇到了同样的问题。Windows 11 虚拟机在启动时直接黑屏。

It seems like your virtual machine (VM) is stuck in a disk check loop or facing a boot issue after the Parallels update. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:

    1. Disable automatic disk check:
      • Shut down the VM completely.
      • Go to Parallels Desktop > Actions > Configure > Hardware > Boot Order.
      • Add the following to the Boot Flags: devices.disk.check=false. This might bypass the disk check causing the hang.
    2. Start Windows in Safe Mode:
      • While starting the VM, repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 to attempt to access the advanced boot options.
      • If Safe Mode is still unreachable, use a Windows 10 installation ISO, boot into recovery mode, and try Startup Repair or System Restore.
    3. Use the Parallels rescue feature:
      • Go to Actions > Reset while holding the Option (Alt) key. This should present a recovery option.
      • Attempt to repair the VM's boot configuration from there.
    4. Revert Parallels update (if possible):
      • If the problem started right after the update, reverting to the previous version of Parallels might help.
      • Check Parallels settings for a rollback option, or reinstall the previous version.
    5. Check Parallels Tools Installation:
      • If you manage to boot, ensure Parallels Tools is updated, as mismatched versions can cause issues.
If none of these work, you may need to contact Parallels support directly for more advanced troubleshooting, or restore a backup if you have one.
