Boot Camp deleted my Windows XP.pvs file

I recently upgraded to Leopard OS x 10.5 and installed Parallels 3.0. Everything went well and parallels started up fine and all was good.

I have not used my computer for a couple of days and when I tried to run Parallels, Boot Camp kicks in to install an OS system. I have not installed Parallels through Boot Camp.

My previous Windows XP.pvs file was used for the start up process but that has mysteriously disappeared and I can not locate it!

Does anyone have a fix for me to boot up my system?

You sound confused. What do you mean by "when I tried to run Parallels, Boot Camp kicks in to install an OS system"? And what does "I have not installed Parallels through Boot Camp" mean?

If files disappear from your machine you need to revert to a backup of the files.

Boot Camp does not install an OS, neither inside Parallels nor outside. It's a partitioner and it creates a driver CD.

You CANNOT install Parallels "through Boot Camp", whatever that means.

Can you explain exactly what you did and were trying to do? What exactly happens when you start Parallels and select your Windows VM?

Thank you for your reply. I apologise if my post sounds confusing but I am a tad miffed with what has happened.

When I click the parallels icon to run the application, a window in Parallels appears. The header reads 'My Boot Camp' with configuration details. Previously it read Windows XP and had all the configuration details I had set up initially, increased size of hard drive, network sharing etc.

As in my earlier post, everything was running perfectly for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I started Parallels and this new 'starter box' appears with default settings and 'My Boot Camp' titled. I am unable to locate the original pvs file. My iMac has recently been installed with Leopard OS X 10.5 and do not back up Parallels via Time Machine as I have read there are problems doing so. However may I stress that the original Windows XP folder is still located within a Parallels folder albeit minus the .pvs file which would help launch my Windows XP in Parallels.

I have invested so much time into installing and adding software. Are you aware of any one having the same problem or do you know of a way to attain my original Windows XP in Parallels? I hope this helps to make more sense of what I am experiencing.
