Boot from hard drive ... (issue)

Oltrix, if you installed Windows using Boot Camp Assistant, try following.
Set Startup disk Windows, restart Mac , login in Windows and perform checkdisk
Make sure Boot Camp 2.1 is installed in Windows
Set startup disk to Mac,
Delete Boot Camp VM folder in Documents/Parallels
Start Parallels Desktop and allow to create new VM

it is in case you installed Vista through Boot Camp Assistant

Hi John,

I'm afraid that didn't work. I did all what you said(updating to 2.1 was a bit tricky though but i got it at the end), chkdsk showed no problems whatsoever, I did it a couple of times in different ways, same result every time.

Starting in boot camp works great but Parallels just returns to the old "boot from hard drive" screen and stays there...

I tried to run through all the other tricks mentioned in other forums (changing the .pvs file to"Disk 0:0 image = Boot Camp;disk0s3" again, running a script i found doing the same thing. Nothing helps.

Do you have any more tricks up our sleeve?

jvm You have non-standard configuration
Please use Oltrix suggestion to add
"Disk 0:0 image = Boot Camp;disk0s3" or disk0s4
but the best solution is to format one of the Windows partition to HFS and you will be able to boot

Delete current VM, and try to start Parallels Desktop again, if it failed create ticket in support we can continue investigation in deep
 
Hi John,

Tried once again to create a new VM but it didn't work so i wrote to support two days ago and referred to this thread but I still haven't heard anything more from them... This normal?
 
I have the same problem except that I have had Parallels running on Mac OSx for at least 6 months. Now the screen freezes up with the message "boot from hard drive." I have many files in the Parallels folder. How do I correct this problem without destroying the files.
