BOOTMGR Missing

Hi - looking for assistance. Trying to install Win 7 Pro on a Macbook Air (SSD) and can't get started. Message as follows :

Trying to boot from SATA Drive

BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to start

Parallels tools allows me to invoke a C+A+D command and it simply goes round again

I don't understand what you are trying to do.
you have a MBA with only one partition.
you have installed Parallels Desktop for MAC installed.
you want to create a virtual machine of Win 7 Pro.
in order to do so, you need to assign you external DVD-device to Parallels.
insert the Win 7 DVD.
from Parallels menu choose File and than New.
take it from there :)

Your interpretation was correct - one partition on the ssd, latest version of Parallels 6 installed and wanting to install 64bit Win 7 Pro as a virtual machine

Turns out the problem was the external superdrive was not recognised by Parallels and therefor the only place for Win to search for a Win boot instruction was the SSD where there was obviously no boot information

Given your response - which basically said it should work I went back to ground zero - deleted all Parallels data, the partly started virtual Win image and then Parallels

Reinstalled Parallels and this time the usb superdrive was recognised (as a Sata device ???)

Win 7 now installed and working so thanks for the advice which gave me the encouragement to try again

I have quite a similar issue with you. Turns out that the superdrive is the prob because parallels did not recognize it.
