Bought new Mac, Only have upgrade key

WM-TLD

Bit poster
I bought a new Mac. I have my upgrade key for Parallels Desktop 6 and cannot find my original Parallels 5 box. Am I attached to another object by an inclined plane wrapped helically around an axis or it there a way to re-install or get my original key?

I went there to start off with and only my upgrade key for version 6 is there. Is there any way to go back to see what key it upgraded from when I first activated it back in May?

Contact Parallels support directly. But if you bought it in a box and you can't find it, and you didn't register it, I don't see a bright outcome.

Except that I was never told that I needed to keep it. I was told that I should register "this key" when I got the upgrade. I was not told that without also registering the original that this one would be rendered useless. Most companies would work to figure it out since it had to have been registered and linked to the upgrade key when I first activated it. That whole shrug attitude is why I am getting VMWare.

LOL
Look, I DON'T work for Parallels nor I represent Parallels, nor I have magic powers that make keys appear!
I'm just a user helping out other users, and even my signature states that. I told you before to contact Parallels support directly, the forums are mostly users helping users.

I told you what you could do by yourself to overcome your problem, that is, when a key is registered (besides activating it) it's visible in Parallels accounts (most people don't know this), maybe you used another email/account to register it (registering means tying your license keys to a an account/email).

Nobody pays me for helping others, and some of the advice I give for free is very well payed in IT consultancy, and I often wondered if I'm being too generous, I only expect something as simple as a 'thank you', and if I don't get it, yeah, I shrug and I lose all empathy.

Yeah, Specimen is actually very generous and most if not all of his answers are very helpful and correct.
So his initial advice was the best - contact support, let them know all possible email you could use to register Parallels - maybe they will be able to find the key and help you with that. Otherwise you can get a refund for upgrade licence and whether buy full or go to VMware - it's your choice.

Download Site for Prior Versions

Thanks for giving the site to download prior versions of Parallels Desktop. I needed to reinstall Version 6 and was lost until I found your post. It worked!
