Build 3036 Application Start Problems (OS Installation Asst.)

I poked around and looked for an answer and cannot find anything, so here goes...

Here's the problem...

I installed the new beta, and now when I launch Parallels, I am prompted with the OS Installation Assistant each time (even though I have existing virtual machines). When I click cancel, Parallels quits.

I have two virtual machines...

PVS #1 - WinXP created using the OS Installation Assistant noted above: When i double click on the .pvs file, it opens Parallels and I am again prompted with the OS Installation Assistant.

PVS #2 - WinXP created using the old version of Parallels: Opens fine.

Bottom line, why am I not able to get around the OS Installation Assistant?

blitfin,

this happens because you don't have your VM's registered in the VM's cache.
They should have appeared there if they were in you recent list. But for some reason this didn't happen.
As a workaround, you can register your VM by opening it with the *.pvs file.
Anyway, i believe that this behabiour is a problem of design and will be redesigned during current beta stage.

Thanks Max... unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work -- the PVS I created with the Beta release still launches the OS Assistant. I tried using an older PVS and I get a registry error, crash, auto restart, bsod, auto restart loop.

I've been goofing around with this all day and have devided to roll back to build 1970.

I believe that you can also solve your problem by recreating configuration file with wizard - while keeping your previous hdd image. You can choose to use existing image while creating new configuration file.
