Build 3120 did not work for me (Win XP SP2) - reinstalled 1970

I did install Build 3120 (from previous 1970) - and an existing Windows XP SP2 did not start anymore (it chimed, MS splash screen, progress bar, then blank black screen and nothing more).
Reinstalling Build 1970 helped, Windows XP SP2 starts again.
What could have been wrong? (I did send the reports to parallels) Anyone other who has gone through this experience?

Can you install 1970 right over top of 3120? 3120 is not working for me either - when I install tools, the mouse "disappears".
