Build 3150 - editing pvs file for bootcamp

Hi,

I am relatively new to the mac so not sure how to proceed in editing the PVS file to point towards my bootcamp installation. I am using the build released today 3150

I am running a mac pro with 3 SATA hd (500GB, 500GB, 320GB)

I have bootcamp installed on a 200GB partion on the third 320GB HD in BAY 3

The PVS IDE device file bit in bootcamp has the following options

[IDE devices]
Disk 3:0 enabled = 1
Disk 3:0 = 1
Disk 3:0 media = 1
Disk 3:0 connected = 1
Disk 3:0 image = Boot Camp
Disk 3:0 cylinders = 0
Disk 3:0 heads = 0
Disk 3:0 sectors = 0
Disk 3:0 enabled = 1

Where would I look for this options and how would I complete these options to let me boot of the bootcamp partion on this drive ? The reason bootcamp is installed on drive 3 is because I have a mirrored raid on the first two HD.

Matthew,

To be bootable, any HDD of Parallels VM should be on IDE 0:0 channel while yours is on 3:0 channel. BTW, how did you make it?

Please return it to 0:0 channel and try to boot. What will be the result?

I was just playing around editing that file.. The new 3150 build lets you change the drive number to boot off another drive.

What would be the channel on the 3rd bay on the mac pro?
 
my bootcamp is selectable on command key start on booting the mac

I boot windows off the 3rd drive (I needed to as the first two hard drives were raid)
 
Just set the channel to 0:0 and try to start the VM.

If it is a single Windows Boot Camp partition, Parallels Desktop should understand this configuration by default and boot it.

I've been anxiously awaiting this new release, hoping that it would solve the issue of having boot camp on a separate drive. I would assume that bay 3 would equate to channel 1:0, considering each SATA controoler has 2 channels. However, this option was available in RC 3120, but did not matter. This issue is also being discussed in the Official "Error loading operating system..." Thread (Boot Camp) here
 
Bay 3 is 2:0 for the 1st partion or 2:2 for the second partion of the drive.

I have the NTFS partion on 2:2 I think having looked at utility.

Can you boot vista on the bootcamp partion this way?

I got confused do I need to put one or two drives after bootcamp;

I put:

When I started the VM I was asked for my admin password and then told unable to open diskimage bootcamp;disk2s2 . VISTA is installed on disk2s2 (NTFS partion) since I upgraded yesterday.
