By Clicking external display has MacBook Pro mirror external display

MacBook Pro (15" 2017 Retina) running High Sierra (10.13.6). Have HP external monitor that works fine with just Mac running - I can work on either screen individually, as it should be. However, when running Parallels Desktop 12 (12.2.0) with Windows 10 apps displayed on the monitor and Mac apps running on the MacBook Pro, which I click on the external monitor, the MacBook Pro screen mirrors the External Monitor.
