Can I install Parallels 7 and new desktops on 2nd Laptop Hard Drive?

I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro

I replaced my factory HDD with a 120GB SSD, which has the Mac OSX and all my applications; I then replaced the CD opitcal Drive with a second Western Digital 750GB Hard Drive to house all of my data. It works great.

I would like to have a Windows desktop, using Paralells 7, but there is not enough space on the SSD drive, so I have been trying to install it on the 2nd HDD drive, without much luck.

The HDD is not bootable;

How can I set this up?

I have Parallels installed on my SSD but the VM itself lives on the 2nd hard drive. You can choose where the VM lives, you're limited nor required to put it on the same drive as the Parallels installation itself.

I am, however, experiencing performance issues with the VM on the second machine which I'm attributing to the fact I cheaped out on my hard drive bay. I do not have the same issues on my MacPro where the VM lives on the same drive as OS X. I'll keep you posted on anything I find related to this as I don't want to hijack your thread.
 
Right.
Parallels Desktop itself takes around 165 MB in Application folder and around 500 MB in Library - any Virtual Machine which is usually from 2 GB and up to 500GB (can be more but i have never seen bigger size) can be stored on any other hard drive or even flash drive
