I'm using Parallels 7 to run Windows XP Home on Lion 10.7.3. Works well. I now want to install Windows 7, but I don't want to remove Windows XP (I'm a developer and I want to test my programs on both versions); i.e. I want to have two virtual machines under Parallels. I don't want to run the two at the same time, just have both available. I can't see a place in the Parallels documentation that makes it clear how to do this - they seem to concentrate on upgrading from XP to 7 which I don't want.

TIA for any thoughts or suggestions.

BTW I have a legitimate (OEM) version of Windows 7 on disk waiting to be installed.

Sure you can. My list of virtual machines exceed 10) To create new VM start Parallels Desktop > go to File menu> Choose New> follow onscreen instructions.

    File - New

Or if you have an existing machine that you'd like to bring in, you could use transporter, but that's a whole new topic.

    Works

Make sure to shut down any version running first. Thanks for the helpful information.
