Can I use an earlier version of Parallels (such as 3)

Bit poster
on my Macbook Air if I want to install Windows but not use it to access internet?

I need to run software that is made only for Windows. This will be the only time I need to use Windows on my Mac - perhaps I can get by using an earlier parallels? I'm interested in this since earlier versions are cheaper and newer versions might make my compuer run slower.
