At work we all use HP machines. IT apparently has a Windows 7 image with HP drivers and the particular softwares we use, and they will use this image on new HP machines for new employees.
I have the luxury that I will get a Mac, and I will use Parallels or VMWare to run our particular Windows softwares.

Are there any drawbacks using this image in Parallels? Because it has a bunch of HP drivers. Any incompatibility issues?

If you are going to migrate Windows directly from a PC, you can do it. Most of the time you cannot use OEM disks in Parallels Desktop to create a virtual machine. If you are going to use image which was slightly alerted compared to the normal image then you can try to create a virtual machine using it. Your virtual machine will not use the HP drivers as it is going to use the drivers provided by Parallels Desktop through Parallels Tools.
