Cannot load DirectX

Is there any reason why I can't get DirectX software to download and install under my Parallels environment, I have two systems that are behaving the same way?

Yes, you cannot install DirectX into Virtual machine, as when you install Parallels Tools we already install Direct X 8.1, do not upgrade or reinstall it, you can corrupt video configuration
 
I have an application that needs DirectX and it is failing with an error indicating that it cannot intiate DirectX....any suggestions
