Cannot mount DVDs when Parallels is running

When Parallels (7) is running, I cannot mount any DVDs on the Macintosh desktop. Nor do they appear in the Windows environment under Parallels. Is this normal behaviour, and is there anything I can do to mount DVDs without having to quit Parallels?

Try to open Virtual Machine Configuration -> Hardware -> CD DVD -> and disable Connect checkbox.
