Cannot Repair Windows XP

Hi there,

I'm having a problem with my Windows XP udpate. There's one update that keeps hanging, I've actually contacted Microsoft's Windows support about the problem, but no luck so far (reminds me again why I love my mac).

I wonder if a repair install won't help fix the problem. Now, I've tried setting my VM so that it boot to CD first, and in fact in booting it says booting Windows from CD, but it boots into Windows never giving me any other options.

Any idea how to get it to boot to the CD and give me the chance to repair the install?

Had a similar situation (but mine went on a power outage). long story short...

I moved my main boot disk to the 3rd disk,
Then created a blank disk as the main boot,
Then put the windows xp boot cd in. and startup.
Then you have to stop it from trying to install the OS
Then finally you'll get to the XP boot
Then select R and change drives to D: or E: (depending where you put orig boot)
Then run chkdisk /? (because i cant remember the flag for Fix/Repair)

That's how i was finally able to get a repair and breath life back into my VM
