Can't access Windows XP

I am running mac 10.6.2, and parallels 5.00 build 5.0.9308

When I start the virtual machine, my windows startup icon appears in the desktop but with two vertical dash lines in the bottom right corner of the icon. I can't access the start menu, nor any windows applications. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hi Ron,
if I understand correctly, you are most probably running Parallels Desktop in Crystal mode. Click the two parallel lines and select Exit Crystal option.
